CablePal is a secure, web-based order processing tool originally
developed by Plugit.com for Cox Media of Florida’s Gulf Coast.
It was designed to assist Cox Media’s account executives and
account managers in streamlining the flow of advertising sales orders
into Cox’s existing traffic and billing system, and is accessible
via individual usernames and passwords from any computer with Internet
access.
The product was initially developed from the following situation:
In
September 2001, Doris Young, Vice President and General Manager
of Cox Media Gulf Coast began working with Cox Media employees and
the affiliated local Cox Communications webmaster to make an electronic
media order form compatible with their current media order system.
No viable options were suggested from the initial development team.
Young then approached Plugit.com with her vision and asked for
solutions to revise their current Excel order form, making it more
compatible with their order system (Novar) and more user-friendly
for their Account Executives.
Following initial development and testing, and then revisions and
additions as the client saw greater uses for the product. Renamed
EmediaPal™, the system revolutionized Cox Media Gulf Coast's
media order process. Immediate results included money and manpower
savings, as well as reduced paperwork. Keying errors have also been
reduced, approval time drastically cut, and lost orders made a thing
of the past with the new web-based system which stores all data
in one place.
EmediaPal™ also provided the account executives with the
added convenience of inputting orders on their own timetables, from
any computer with Internet access, and created a shorter turnaround
time from entering orders to getting them on-air.
In 2003, the product was nominated for the Cable Advertising Awards
in the category of Sales Achievement in Advertising Technology.
Additional rollouts of the product have been completed or are underway
in 14 other Cox Communications markets nationwide including Arizona,
California, Kansas, New England and Northern Virginia.
